- Description:
- ● Bell reducers are pipe reducing couplers with internal female threads of a different size on each end.
- ● It is a conical reducer that resembles a bell shape with a larger diameter opening on one side and a smaller diameter opening on the other.
- Used for:
- ● A bell reducer coupling, also called a bell coupler is used to increase or reduce the size of a pipe thread.
- ● These female threaded reducers are used to connect fittings and pipes of different sizes together.
- ● Used to convert a male thread to a female thread of a different size.
- Advantage:
- ●The advantage of a bell pipe reducer over a hex bushing is that they reduce or increase the pipe size in a smooth uniform fashion.
- To Install:
- ● Thread the larger female thread onto a male thread of the same size, to decrease pipe size.
- ● Thread the smaller female thread onto a male thread of the same size, to increase pipe size.
- Sizing:
- ● A bell reducer pipe fitting is sized according the larger internal female thread and then by the smaller internal female thread.
- ● For Example: A 1" x 3/4" bell reducer will have a larger 1" female thread on one end and a smaller 3/4" female thread on the other.
- Also Called:
- ● Bell Fitting.
- ● Pipe Reducer Coupling.
- More Options:
- ● Another option are Hex Bushings which are also thread reducers except with male threads x reduced female threads.

- Material of Construction:
- ● Constructed out of Stainless Steel 304 & 316.
More Information:
A bell reducer is a threaded pipe reducer used in piping systems and in plumbing, designed to reduce or to increase the thread size. This allows pipes of different diameters or fittings of different sizes to be connected to a piping system. A bell coupling reducer gets its name from its conical structure, it is shaped like a bell. They feature internal female threads on each end of a conical shaped reducer which provides a connection between pipe fittings of different sizes. The concentric bell shaped design allows for a smooth and uniform transition between two pipe sizes or two threaded fittings of differing sizes. One side of the threaded reducing coupling is smaller to fit the smaller diameter pipe, while the larger other side connects with the larger diameter pipe. This facilitates smooth gradual transitions between larger and smaller pipes due to their conical bell shape. These threaded concentric reducers thread onto an existing male pipe thread and in effect convert it to a female thread, and at the same time to increase or reduce the thread size. To reduce the thread size simply screw the larger female thread onto the same size male thread, and to increase the thread size screw the smaller internal thread onto a male thread of the same size. The advantage bell reducers have over reducing bushings, is this smooth uniform transition between threads of different sizes. These NPT coupling reducers have tapered National Pipe Threads (NPT) threads, which create a secure and water-tight connection when installed properly. This makes these reduced couplings ideal for a wide range of applications, including residential, commercial, and industrial settings, where the flow rate needs to be managed and where pipe connections need to be increased, reduced or adapted. They are manufactured out of stainless steel 304 & 316 making them durable, corrosion resistance and rust resistant.
